一年ほど前に日本に一時帰国したときに持ち歩いていたスケッチブックをひらいて、ぱらぱらと眺めてみた。日本での生活、とくに家族との時間がたくさんつまっていて、懐かしい気分にさせられる。三年半になるタスマニア生活のあいだに、日本に帰ったのはその一度きり、たった一ヶ月だった。
2011年7月のあたま、父とわたしは、二人で弟の暮らす長野県の上田市を訪ねた。上の日記帳はその上田訪問時に、弟のおすすめのカレーやさん「べんがる」で夕食を食べたときのもの。弟は上田のおいしいものや、すてきなお店に通じていて、あちこち連れまわしてくれた。「富士アイス」の「志まん焼」、そばの「おお西」、天然酵母パンのお店「ルヴァン」など。上田にはなかなか素敵なお店が多い。わたしの好きな漫画家おかざき真里さんの実家の酒屋さんも上田にある。
それにしても、こう、父と弟が肩を並べて （机が小さいのでちょっときゅうくつそうだ）並んでいる姿をみるのは不思議に新鮮だった。いまさらだけど、あらためて、小さかった弟がお父さんと肩をならべるようになっている、あー成長しているんだなぁと。これで、晩酌、とかってやってたら絵になるところを、弟は、父がビールを飲むよこで、ひょうひょうと甘いミルクティーを飲んでいるんだけどね。それはそれで面白いえでもあり。
I looked through my sketchbook which I was caring around when I went back to Japan last year.
That made me miss my life in Japan, especially life with my family.
My holidays is Japan is just a year ago, but my journal of the days made me bit sentimental. That might be because it was only one month holidays in Japan during my 3 and half a year Tasmania life.
In early July in 2011, my dad and I visited Ueta city in Nagano where my little brother lives.
This sketch above is when we had dinner at 'べんがる BE N GA RU', one of my brother's favorite restaurant. He knew a lots of yummy foods, nice restaurants and interesting shops in Ueta city and he took us around.
Looking at my brother sitting next to my dad looked somehow really fresh. My little brother has grown up a lot and he is as big as my dad, although he drunk sweet milk tea instead of bear like my dad. If my brother drunk beer with my dad, I would be more impressed than looking him drinking sweet tea though. My brother always has his own style, and I think it's nice. It was really good night.
