an afternoon tea./ アフターヌーンティー

I was miserably wet from the cold rain. It wasn't rainy when I left home in the morning, so I didn't wear my rain jacket today. On top of that; the strong winds blew and stole heat from me while I was walking. Also, it stops raining as soon as I arrive home - What the hell! At least I can now see a beautiful rainbow and shabby wet clothes hanging on the line in our garden. Kind George was patient enough to listen to all of my complaints, But he never answers so it's a little pathetic.

So now I have enough reason to give myself a treat, take a hot shower, and then have an afternoon tea of warm chocolate cake that I have baked. yum!

冷たい雨にうたれて、びしょぬれ、かたかた震えている。今朝は晴れていたものだからレインジャケットを着ずに家を出てきてしまった。そのうえ、強い風が容赦なく吹き荒れ、わたしの体温を奪っていく。それで家にかえりついたとたん、雨も風もやむんだから。ほんとにもう、なんていやな天気なの。バルコニーに出れば、庭の物干しに、しょんぼり垂れ下がっているぬれた洗濯物とその上にかかる大きな虹が見える。ぶつぶつ文句ばっかり言い続けるわたしの話を聞いてくれるジョージは優しいけど、でも何も言わないんだ。

とにかく、今の私には自分を甘やかしてあげる言い訳があるわけだ。さぁて、あついシャワーをあびて、それからアフターヌーンティーといきましょうか。週末に焼いたチョコレートケーキをあたためて、バニラアイスクリームを添えて、ラム酒をちょこっとたらして、いただきます。
